Temporary Part Time
Tennis Instructors
SALARY: $9-$12/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Tennis Program Coordinator, the
Part-Time Tennis Instructor will work independently or co-teach
group tennis lessons for all ages and abilities at various City
of Lakewood tennis facilities. The candidate must show the
ability to demonstrate and communicate basic to intermediate/advanced
skills in the game of tennis in a motivating and fun environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct youth and/or adults all ages in the fundamental skills
of Tennis
- Develop and implement a schedule for every practice.
- Prepare practice set-up.
- Maintain conditions of tennis courts
- Maintain a safe and supervised environment.
- Supervise Sports Program and participants on-site at all times.
- Collect registrations and fees, as needed; attend to minor accidents
and emergency situations and act as a liaison between participants,
parents and the City of Lakewood.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic to advance knowledge of the rules of Tennis
- Ability to work with youth and/or adults
- Ability to demonstrate techniques of Tennis
- Basic first aid.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- This position involves working the majority of the time outdoors,
instructing/coaching Tennis. Must have the ability to lift
40 pounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be 16 years of age to be an instructor
- Experience in youth/adult programs, athletics and/or appropriate
areas such as recreation, physical education or coaching.
- Any experience with Quick Start Tennis Programs (but not necessary)
DATES:
- Mon/Wed pm and Sat am Spring classes offered (Apr-May)
- Mon/Wed am and pm, Tue/Thu am, and Sat am Summer classes offered
(Jun-Aug)
- Mon/Wed pm and Sat am Fall classes offered (Sep-Oct)
- CARA Tennis Team-Mon/Wed morning practices with Fri morning matches
around Denver area (June-July)
