How to Apply for a City Job
Online applications are preferred. Applicants who apply
online will receive an automatic email reply confirming receipt
of their application.
Applicants who download their application
and submit it via fax/mail/in person will receive a letter confirming
receipt after the position closes. If you would like to submit a resume
with your application, follow the instructions provided at the end of
the application. If you missed that opportunity, feel free to e-mail
your resume separately to recruiter@lakewood.org, with your name and
job title applied for in the subject line. A resume is not required.
Applications are evaluated based on the minimum qualifications outlined
in the job announcement. Only those applicants who meet the minimum
qualifications are considered eligible for further consideration and
will have their application forwarded to the hiring manager for review.
Your qualifications will be evaluated based on the information listed
on your application. As a result, it is very important that you fill
out the application completely even if you attach a resume. Please be
thorough in describing your education, experience, job duties, professional
affiliations, certifications and volunteer experience.
INTERVIEW SELECTIONS
Candidates who are selected to interview will be contacted by telephone
after the position closing date, or in the event of an "open until
filled" recruitment, once a sufficient number of applications have
been screened. This is usually within two to four weeks. In the case
of an "open until filled" recruitment, you may see the position
still advertised even though interviews have begun. If you request special
accommodations to participate in the application/selection process,
please notify the Employee Relations Department for assistance at 303-987-7700.
The selection process may include one or more of the following: written
exam, technical knowledge assessment, writing skills assessment, polygraph,
psychological examinations, and/or oral interviews, depending on the
position you have applied for. Interviews are typically conducted by
a panel of City employees and representatives who are knowledgeable
about the position. After the interviews are completed, you will be
contacted either by telephone or mail as to your interview status.
BACKGROUND CHECKS AND JOB OFFERS

to discuss the background check and job offer process.
