Lakewood's Planning and Development oversees activities that affect the physical and economic structure of Lakewood as a community. Planning works with City Council, Planning Commission, other public agencies, the development community, other City departments and citizens to achieve quality development and redevelopment, while ensuring a strong economic base for the future.

Federal Center
Comprehensive Plan Amendment
In August 2008, the Lakewood Planning Commission adopted and Lakewood City Council approved the Federal Center Comprehensive Plan Amendment.

The Federal Center Comprehensive Plan Amendment represented over two years of planning and incorporated elements of the Denver Federal Center master plan, developed through the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), for this 640-acre site.
