Community Development Block Grant
HOME Investment Partnerships Grant

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) grant are entitlement programs administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The programs provide funding in support of community needs throughout Lakewood. The grant amounts are based on population size and the number of low to moderate income persons residing in the community.

The Planning Division in the Department of Community Planning and Development and the Housing and Family Services Department are the lead agencies for CDBG and HOME activities. Any project or program funded with these federal dollars must meet specific eligibility criteria set by HUD, address a community need, and meet a national objective of the program. The national objectives of the CDBG/HOME programs are to:

Bullet Benefit Low to Moderate-Income persons.
Bullet Prevent or eliminate slum and blight conditions.
Bullet Address urgent community needs.
Bullet Increase home ownership and affordable housing opportunities for low and very-low income individuals.

The program year for Lakewood’s CDBG and HOME grants run from January 1 – December 31. Activities funded with these grants will meet objectives identified in Lakewood’s 2008-2012 Housing and Community Development Plan (Consolidated Plan), the document that identifies local priority needs.

For more information about CDBG or HOME, contact Amy DeKnikker, CDBG & HOME Administrator, at 303-987-7522 or e-mail amydek@lakewood.org.
