
About the Lakewood Cultural Center
The Lakewood Cultural Center boasts an intimate 316-seat theater for the performing arts, a visual art gallery, meeting rooms and classrooms. Located at the southwest corner of Wadsworth Boulevard and Alameda Avenue, the Lakewood Cultural Center hosts many exciting presentations during the holiday season, including 10 performances of The Nutcracker by David Taylor Dance Theatre.
About the Holiday Gift Show & Sale
The gift show & sale runs from Saturday, November 21 through Wednesday, December 23, 2009 with an Artist Reception on Thursday evening, December 3 from 5pm-7pm. The Holiday Gift Show & Sale is held in the North Gallery exhibit space, located adjacent to the lobby area on the main floor, and the second floor Mezzanine Gallery.
Merchandise should be dropped off on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, 2009 between the hours of 10am-4pm. The Holiday Gift Show & Sale is an extension of the Artisan Showcase Gift Shop and is managed by Lakewood Cultural Center staff and volunteers. A 40% commission will be charged on all items sold. The Lakewood Cultural Center is responsible for the collection and reporting of sales tax.
Eligibility
The Holiday Gift Show & Sale is a juried display of Colorado artists and artisans. All works must be original and handcrafted by each applicant; no second party or commercial works are allowed. Each artist accepted must be able to replenish with like quality items as they sell. Please submit three (3) digital images on a cd that are representative of your work, including price ranges of your merchandise. If you are accepted into the show, the work exhibited for sale must be comparable in quality and style to the work pictured in the images previewed by the committee. The Lakewood Cultural Center reserves the right to reject any, or all pieces.
The criteria for acceptance will be based on quality and originality, the number of applications received in each medium, as well as the salability of merchandise for holiday gift giving.
Exhibit Space
Each artist will be designated half of a six-foot table for display of his or her merchandise or a 3-foot by 2-1/2-foot area if a table is not needed. The Lakewood Cultural Center will provide tablecloths and skirting and will display and merchandise all artist’s work with the exception of jewelry. Any special needs must be included on the application. Jewelry artists are required to provide a showcase for their merchandise. An extensive area will be available for sculptures and wall art such as framed paintings, photography, and prints.
Application Essentials
THE FOLLOWING MUST BE INCLUDED IN ORDER TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION:
- Completed and signed application.
- A check (Made payable to: City of Lakewood) for the $20 jury fee (non-refundable) must be included in order to process application!
- CD with three (3) quality images of work labeled with your name. CD will not be returned.
