AN ORDINANCE

ADDING SECTION 10.66.195 TO TITLE 1O OF THE LAKEWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. Section 10.66.195 is hereby added to the Lakewood Municipal Code to read in full as follows:

10.66.195 AUTHORITY OF POLICE COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICERS

A police community service officer shall have the authority to enforce all provisions contained in Title 10 of the Lakewood Municipal Code pertaining to the parking of vehicles and shall have the same authority as a police agent to order the towing of a vehicle. A police community service officer shall have the power and authority to issue and serve summonses and complaints in the municipal court for parking violations and any other violation set forth in Title 10 of the Lakewood Municipal Code as authorized by the Chief of Police. Nothing in this Section shall vest or be construed so as to vest in police community service officers other powers, duties, rights, and emoluments of sworn police agents of the City of Lakewood.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after final publication.

I hereby attest and certify that the within and foregoing ordinance was introduced and read on first reading at a regular meeting of the Lakewood City Council on the 24th day of March, 2008; published by title in the Rocky Mountain News and on the City of Lakewood's website, www.lakewood.org., on the 27th day of March, 2008; set for public hearing on the 14th day of April, 2008; read, finally passed and adopted by the City Council on the 14th day of April, 2008, and signed, and approved by the Mayor on the 15th day of April, 2008.
