A RESOLUTION

ACCEPTING THE BID AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF KIPLING/ALAMEDA INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS, by invitation to bid No. 2343, the City of Lakewood advertised for bids for the Kipling Street (SH 391) and West Alameda Avenue intersection improvement project and bids were opened on October 3, 2002; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for funding of the Kipling/Alameda intersection improvement project; and,

WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible and qualified bidder has been determined to be Jalisco International, Inc., which has submitted its bid in the amount of One Million Nine Hundred Ninety-five Thousand Five Hundred Eighty and 80/100 dollars ($1,995,580.80). Pursuant to City specifications and instruction, the City desires to accept the bid of said bidder.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The bid of Jalisco International, Inc., for the Kipling/Alameda intersection improvement project as described an Invitation to Bid No. 2343 is hereby accepted according to the specifications as defined in the Invitation to Bid.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk attest a contract with said bidder in form approved by the City Attorney in the amount of One Million Nine Hundred Ninety-five Thousand, Five Hundred Eighty and 80/100 dollars ($1,995,580.80) and to authorize an additional One Hundred Thousand and 00/100 dollars ($100,000.00) for contingencies for a total amount not to exceed Two Million Ninety-five Thousand Five Hundred Eighty and 80/100 dollars ($2,095,580.80). The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to Jalisco International, Inc., in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on October 28, 2002, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
