A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE WEST METRO FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, THE WHEAT RIDGE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, THE PLEASANT VIEW FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND THE LITTLETON FIRE DEPARTMENT RELATING TO THE SHARING OF RESPONSIBILITIES DURING A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT.
WHEREAS, three fire protection districts and one fire department currently have the authority to operate within the corporate boundaries of the City of Lakewood for purposes of fire prevention and rescue; and,
WHEREAS, to ensure efficient and safe operations during a hazardous materials incident it is necessary to enter into an agreement regarding the shared responsibilities of the City, the fire protection districts and the fire department for such hazardous material incident.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to sign and the City Clerk attest an intergovernmental agreement, in form approved by the City Attorney, with the West Metro Fire Protection District, the Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District, the Pleasant View Fire Protection District and the Littleton Fire Department relating to the sharing of responsibilities during a hazardous materials incident. This Agreement shall provide a command structure and discrete responsibilities for the agencies involved.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage
and approval.
INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 8 for and 0 against at a regular meeting
of the City Council on April 22, 2002, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center,
480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
