Subject: Transportation Issues

The Council Study Session on Monday, January 7th, 2002 will address the topic of transportation and how statewide issues, such as the lack of funding, affect Lakewood
In preparation for the study session, the Traffic Engineering Division has provided some background information in the attached packet. The packet contains:

· RTD FasTrack video - A short video discussing RTD's future mass transit plans. The video is about ten minutes in length and provides excellent background for the study session.

· A handout summarizing the PowerPoint slide show that will be presented at the study session. There is some additional background information (regarding the City's transportation network) provided in the packet that will not be discussed in detail during the presentation.

Both the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) have offered to attend the study session and discuss transportation issues, as well as how their respective agencies are working together to solve these issues. Mary Blue and Cal Marsella will attend from RTD and the study session is "penciled" in on Tom Norton's (CDOT Executive Director) schedule.
