Laura Phelps Rogers is a contemporary artist working in the conceptual genre. Over the past several years, her work has focused around metal casting, casting through subsititution and combining cast materials with mixed media. A Space in Time is a continuation of her work addressing personal and familial memories that broaden into larger social and cultural topics and interpretations. Narrative Identity through the Figure - Juried by Laura Phelps Rogers
The goal of this year's annual sculpture show, through the vision of the guest juror, is to use the figure as a means of exploring identity. The artists are challenged to recall past experiences and through the use of the figure, build a biographical or autobiographical story. That story is meant to turn views into visual listeners and evoke emotions and thoughts about one's own self.
