Three Friends at Head Start


The Youth and Family Services Program consists of 3 licensed counselors who provide support and consultation to Family and Children’s Programs. Community members can call 303-987-2490 for information and referrals to services available in the community.

 

Grief, Loss and Change Support Group for Seniors

This group meets every other Thursday at 10:00 at the Clements Community Center.  It provides an opportunity for seniors experiencing loss or change in their life to talk with others and receive emotional support.  New members are welcome to drop in and join us at any time.

Women’s Enrichment

This is a fun, enriching and thought provoking group! Topics include (but are not limited to) women’s self-concept, assertive communication, boundaries, and self-care. We will be discussing the book “The Dance of Intimacy" by Dr. Harriet Lerner. Previous participants have loved this group for its lively discussion, supportive environment and meaningful connections. Positive Solutions for Families

A child's behavior can be challenging. This six-week session class for parents and caregiver's of kids ages 2-7 focuses on ways to support children and encourage appropriate behavior. We will talk about specific strategies so you can help children develop strong social and emotional skills, understand the meaning behind the behavior and know what to do when faced with challenging behavior. Dinner and childcare provided. Please call 303-987-2490 to register.

 

Counseling Services

Help is closer than you think! The Lakewood Youth and Family Services program is dedicated to fostering healthy growth and development of youth, individuals, families, and older adults. If you or your family are Lakewood program participants you may be eligible for short-term counseling with one of our licensed mental health professionals. This service is confidential and is provided to you at no fee. Please contact our office at 303-987-2490 and ask to speak with one of our therapists for more information.
