So what's in it for you?
As a volunteer, you can have a purpose and meaning and feel valued by an organization. You will also have the opportunity to socialize and network with people who are driven and inspired by what they do. Your contribution will be rewarded with a feeling of joy and satisfaction. Many community members, including yourself or someone you know, may need help from others someday. Volunteering now may help you accept that assistance if the time comes.
The City of Lakewood Volunteer Program is designed to promote and support the growth of volunteerism within the City's departments and the community. The City of Lakewood provides a number of volunteer opportunities, such as office assignments, service events and special projects that allow volutneers to give back in a fun and educational manner. Many City offices participate in the volunteer program by creating opportunities and requesting volunteers to meet department needs.
Flexible Volunteering
Volunteer times are flexible! You may volunteer when and where you can. The City offers volunteer opportunities from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the work week plus evenings and weekends. Volunteers may choose short-term service events, special projects and community projects, or pledge long-term volunteer commitment by participating in office work, volunteer groups or internships. The City has an array of rewarding and educational volunteer opportunities to fit your interests and schedule.
