The City of Lakewood reports to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a non-profit organization working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by businesses and cities through measurement and information disclosure. Lakewood is one of more than 200 cities worldwide reporting their emissions.
Measuring and reporting GHG emissions and climate change data provide a number of community benefits, including the following:

- Identifying opportunities for efficiency - companies using CDP have identified savings of over $53 billion

In August 2015, the City of Lakewood committed to the Compact of Mayors, which has now become the
, a global coalition of city leaders dedicated to reducing their GHG emissions, make their community more resilient to climate change and regularly report their progress publicly. By committing to the Global Covenant of Mayors, Lakewood is continuing its work to make a community where people want to live and where businesses want to invest both today and for generations to come.
