Experience shows that survivors face some of the biggest challenges in the first days after a disaster, when emergency responders are struggling to get into the area, re-establish power and communications and distribute supplies.

Lakewood's Office of Emergency Management prepares warning and response plans, and conducts tests and training throughout the year, for natural and man-made emergencies that could impact the city and its residents.
