WHAT DOES THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD DO
TO PROTECT OUR WATER QUALITY?
Lakewood's Public Works Department regularly sweeps City streets
to keep the trash and debris out of the storm drains. The City also
removes trash and noxious vegetation from the many gulches and waterways
throughout Lakewood. The City has more than forty miles of gulches
and approximately 2500 storm sewer inlets that require occasional
maintenance. The City regularly maintains Municipal Facilities,
City-owned detention ponds, parks and open-space areas each year.
The City actively supports the Rooney Road Recycling Center (RRRC)
which allows all residents of Jefferson County to recycle their
household hazardous waste, used oil, paint and other materials by
appointment. The RRRC also collects hazardous wastes and recyclables
directly from your home. For information and directions to the RRRC,
view our color brochures on residential and commercial waste collections.
To report chemical spills into the storm drain systems or illegal
dumping call 303-987-7111.
