On Friday July 25, 2014, the Lakewood Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, with the assistance of the Lakewood Police Volunteer Program and members of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in the City of Lakewood. Statistics indicate that a number of DUI arrests in Lakewood occur in the general vicinity of this location. There have also been serious traffic accidents that were alcohol related in this general area.
The checkpoint will take place in the late night hours when a high percentage of all DUI arrests take place.
The Lakewood Police Department is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol related accidents in the City of Lakewood.
“We want people to drive responsibly. We are committed to serving the public and to making our roadways safer,” said Chief Kevin Paletta.
The approximate location of the checkpoint is on S. Kipling Pkwy near W. Alameda Ave. The checkpoint is a part of a statewide “100 Days of Heat” high-visibility campaign.
