Lakewood Cultural Center Presents is pleased to welcome multiple GRAMMY-Award winner Maria Schneider Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Schneider's music has been hailed by critics as "evocative, majestic, magical, heart-stoppingly gorgeous, and beyond categorization." The Maria Schneider Orchestra is an 18 member collective that has performed at festivals and concert halls worldwide, collecting five GRAMMYs out of 12 total nominations.
Schneider's music blurs the lines between genres, stretching from Jazz at Lincoln Center, to The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Her recent collaboration with the orchestra and David Bowie resulted in his single called, "Sue (Or In A Season of Crime)," and brought her a 2016 GRAMMY (Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals). Schneider and her orchestra also received a 2016 GRAMMY for their latest work, The Thompson Fields (Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album). Schneider is among a select few musicians to have received GRAMMYs in multiple genres, including both jazz and classical categories.
Tickets start at $20 and are available at 303-987-7845, www.Lakewood.org/LCCPresents or the Lakewood Cultural Center Box Office, 470 S. Allison Parkway (Wadsworth and West Alameda Avenue).
This performance is made possible in part through support from Colorado Creative Industries and the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2017-2018 Lakewood Cultural Center Presents season is generously supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), with appreciation to the members of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, and Denver Post Community, which improve and enrich the lives of those in our community.
