Fourth Annual INSPIRE Arts Week
Lakewood’s Heritage, Culture and the Arts once again host’s INSPIRE Arts Week from Wednesday, June 4 to Saturday, June 14 with a broad array of free and discounted events presented by art and cultural organizations throughout Lakewood.
The 11 day event showcases the vibrant and rich arts culture that exists in the third largest city in the metro area. Seventeen organizations are participating in INSPIRE by producing more than 30 events and exhibits during the 11 day event.
“It’s exciting to see this partnership come together,” said Lorene Joos, arts programming curator for Lakewood’s Heritage, Culture and the Arts Division. “Lakewood is full of talented, creative individuals and organizations, and to see what is offered and accomplished in this community collectively is truly inspiring!”
A number of FREE events are part of this year’s lineup including Lakewood Symphony’s open rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4 at the Lakewood Cultural Center; 40 West Arts’ “Rolling Route 40 – The Hubcaps Art Exhibit,” which opens on Friday, June 6 and celebrates Colfax’s storied past as the main drag; Lakewood Sister Cities’ Music Scholar Recital featuring Julia Popham on the violin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at the Lakewood Cultural Center; and the City’s annual Rockin’ Block Party, 5-11 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at Lakewood Heritage Center. Two new galleries are part of INSPIRE and the Lakewood scene this year, and they are located in Belmar’s Block 7 art district. Diagnosisart! invites you to a FREE grand opening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6, when you can enjoy free gifts, entertainment and refreshments. Valkarie Gallery and Studio provides an opportunity to “Create in the Gallery” from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12. Stop by Belmar Block 7 for the FREE Art Walk of all nine galleries in Belmar from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

INSPIRE Arts Week grew from Lakewood’s participation in a long-term planning and visioning process for arts and culture for the city that was supported by the then Colorado Council on the Arts (now Colorado Creative Industries).
