Residents told to get ready for evacuation

Pre-evacuation notice issued to residents along Lena Gulch

Lakewood sent a pre-evacuation notice at 8:24 p.m. through Code Red to residents along Lena Gulch from Youngfield Street northeast across Maple Grove Reservoir to West  29th Avenue.

The City also has opened its emergency call center to take calls from residents who need help or who have questions. Residents can reach the call center to speak to a City staff person by calling 303-987-5412.

The pre-evacuation notice means that residents should be on the alert that if conditions worsen, they may need to leave their homes. Residents can prepare by gathering some clothing, any prescription medications they take and important papers. This notice affects about 300 homes in Lakewood along the gulch that runs northeast through the city.

The notice was sent by Code Red, which is a call from the Police Department’s communication center to resident in the area from Youngfield to the Maple Grove Reservoir and 10 homes below the reservoir.
