Free event to help job seekers “Rise to the Top”

The “Rise to the Top: Marketing Yourself for a Successful Job Search” is a free event to learn how to make sure your resume rises to the top of the pile during your job search.

Learn valuable insider’s knowledge of ways to boost your resume’s effectiveness from local experts from a variety of employers and businesses. Also, take in a fashion show for interview-appropriate outfits sponsored by Target at Belmar.

The City of Lakewood’s Employee Relations Department and the Jefferson County Workforce Center are hosting this all-day event.

WHAT: All-day free “Rise to the Top” job search event

WHERE: Lakewood Civic Center, 480 S. Allison Parkway

WHEN:  7 a.m. walk-in registration, lobby of cultural center 
               Workshops and events from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
               Thursday, Sept. 13

Presentations will include some of the following topics: 
    • “The Insider’s Guide to Landing a Job,” where local industries will offer tips on finding work in their fields. 
    • “Cutting Edge Strategies for Gaining a Competitive Advantage,” where you will learn how to successfully maximize your chances of getting called for an interview. 
    • One-on-one resume critiques and workshops on social media, computer training, networking and handling gaps in your resume.
