Mission Statement

The mission of the Lakewood Housing Authority is to provide an opporutnity for a healthy, affordable, decent and safe living environment for the people of the Lakewood community.

History

The Lakewood Housing Authority is celebrating 30 years of serving families.

Programs

Public Housing
The Public Housing program provides low-rent units for families and individuals. Public Housing units are located throughout Lakewood. LHA owns and manages 159 apartments, duplexes, townhomes and single-family homes. In general Public Housing residents pay 30 percent of their monthly adjusted income for rent and utilities. Section 8 Vouchers
The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance to help eligible families live in safe and decent housing of their choice. With funding provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by local public housing authorities, this program utilizes privately owned existing housing stock. Senior Housing
Willow Glen is a 70 unit complex for low income seniors 62 and older. The Lakewood Housing Authority owns the complex, but it is managed by Eaton Senior Programs. Click here for more information.

Self-Sufficiency
Our Mission is to enable citizens to reach their full potential towards self-sufficiency by providing quality support services that help strengthen families and nurture neighborhood communities.

We serve residents living in the Section 8 (HCV), Public Housing, and other Lakewood Housing owned properties. We offer various services, programs, and resources to those interested in working towards achieving economic independence. To learn more, link here.

 

Governance

The Lakewood Housing Authority is governed by a six-member Board of Commissioners, one of whom is a LHA resident. The board is appointed by the Lakewood City Council.

The Board of Commissioners is responsible for approving the annual budget for LHA and for setting policy.
