As part of a statewide campaign to help build healthier communities, the City of Lakewood was recently recognized at the level of “Elite”!
We are part of the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Cities & Towns Campaign, from LiveWell Colorado. The campaign recognizes four levels of participation for HEAL Cities & Towns: Eager, Active, Fit and Elite.
The City achieved Elite status by adopting new policies and actions aimed at improving access to healthy eating and active living. Those policies include:
The HEAL Cities & Towns Campaign of Colorado is designed to foster local government policies that improve access to healthy eating and active living in communities throughout Colorado. It's a partnership between LiveWell Colorado, a nonprofit organization committed to preventing and reducing obesity in Colorado; and the Colorado Municipal League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that has served and represented Colorado's cities and towns since 1923. The goal of the HEAL Cities & Towns Campaign of Colorado is to help build healthier communities and support local leaders in their commitment to address a city’s physical and fiscal health.
