To transfer service on a City of Lakewood water, sewer, or stormwater utility account, the title company should call our office 48 hours prior to the closing date and order a final bill for the property. At that time, we will provide an amount to collect and prorate between the buyer and seller at the time of closing.
To order a final bill and get closing figures, please call us at (303) 987-7615. Calls are taken in the order that they are received. If you are directed to voice mail, you will be asked to leave the following information:
• Property address.
• Seller's name.
• New buyer's name.
• Whether the new buyers will occupy the property; if not, please leave their
billing address.
• Closing date.
• Your return-call information.
We will typically return your call the same day it comes in, and we can answer any questions you may have regarding properties within the City of Lakewood.
**Please note we do not provide statuses.**
The City of Lakewood water, sewer, and stormwater utilities are lienable against the properties. Liens are filed once a year with the
Jefferson County Assessor's Office and are attached to the property taxes as a special assessment. Balances are tied to the properties and are normally collected after receiving final bills which the title companies collect at the time of closing.
