Management & Land Acquisition
The Property
Management Division performs a variety of duties related to real
property matters and performs technical reviews of all land development
applications within the City. The Division is responsible for any
acquisition of land or real property interests necessary to meet
the needs of the City or the citizens including land for parks,
open space, city facilities, rights-of-way, easements and license
agreements. These duties also include any leases or lease purchases.
The Division also provides technical assistance to the Department
of Community Planning and Development in the review of subdivisions,
annexations, site plans and other land use applications as they
relate to legal descriptions, drawing requirements, signature authorizations
and verification.
The Division
creates, maintains, and updates data files for all real property
matters, including development-related cases and all City land acquisitions.
Using the data files, maps, the City's mainframe computer geobase
and internally generated geographic mapping of real property matters,
the Division responds to multiple weekly internal and external requests
for information regarding City land matters. This internally generated
mapping of City-related real property matters will provide an essential
component of the resources necessary to meet the reporting requirements
of the Governmental Accounting
Standards Board (GASB).
Funding sources
for real property acquisitions include the Capital Improvement and
Preservation Program, Community Development Block Grant funds, Federal
Highway Administration funds, Colorado Department of Transportation
funds, Urban Drainage & Flood Control District funds, Jefferson
County Open Space funds, the Conservation Trust Fund, and the City's
General Fund.
Property ownership
records are maintained by the Jefferson
County Assessor. Records are available through the Property
Records Search(Web site).
