Bear Creek Lake Park and the City of Lakewood Regional Parks Division offer a wide range of programs and events at all of our locations. Find out what's happening and get outside and visit us at Bear Creek Lake Park, William F. Hayden Park on Green Mountain and the Bear Creek Greenbelt.

Naturalist Guided Night Hikes!

 

Summer is in full bloom! Join us as we celebrate the season in the Bear Creek Greenbelt. These hikes are designed for the whole family, but keep in mind each one will average an hour and a half of walking and observing. And don't forget to dress appropriately for Colorado's ever changing weather. No dogs please.

National Trails Day volunteer service project

National Trails Day volunteer service project!


Help improve the trails at your local open space! Volunteers will assist park staff with trail maintenance, construction and reclamation work at William Frederick Hayden Park at Green Mountain. The project will focus on the Box o’ Rox trail and some surrounding social trails. We will also have a naturalist program available for our youngest volunteers while their parents work on the trail. This event is made possible through the support of the Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA) and REI. Following the trail project, please join us for an afternoon of trail outreach and a bicycle demo at the Rooney Road trailhead in cooperation with Jefferson County Open Space, COMBA, Wheat Ridge Cyclery and Yeti Bicycles.

Let's Go Fishing!

The first full weekend in June has been designated as no-license-required fishing in the state of Colorado. Come and join the park naturalists to learn the basics of fishing. We will learn about types of fish, bait, fishing ethics and how to catch the big one. We will have 50 fishing poles to give away on a first-come, first served basis.

Fishing Tournament

Bear Creek Lake Park Trout Fishing Tournament!

 

Cast your line and reel in the big one at the Bear Creek Lake Park trout fishing tournament. The target fish for this event will be rainbow trout, and the winner will be determined by weight. The tournament will take place on Bear Creek Reservoir with 25 available slots for watercraft and 25 slots for shore fisherman. This is a team event; at least one team member must be 18 years or older. There will be cash prices for first, second and third place. All boats will require a mandatory boat inspection.

 

Fee: $60/team (includes park entrance fee)
