Electric and Gas
Lakewood is 100% served by Xcel Energy. Xcel Energy provides numerous resources for businesses and residents interested in saving money on their utility bills as well as access to renewable energy.
Metro Denver's utility rates are equitable compared to other large metropolitan areas. The average retail price of electricity in Colorado's commercial sector was only 9.43 cents per kilowatt hour in 2011, compared to the national average of 10.32 cents per kilowatt hour. See Xcel Energy's website for commercial and industrial rates.
Lakewood businesses and residents have access to a host of telecommunications providers including CenturyLink, DIRECTV and Comcast/Xfinity. A complete list of metro Denver telecommunications providers is available under the documents section.
Water and Sewer
The City of Lakewood provides sewer and water service in a limited area in the north part of Lakewood. Several other entities provide water and sewer service throughout the balance of the City. Water and Sewer service information is available under Utilities in the Quick Links.
Several private trash collection companies are available. Please consult the yellow pages or perform a Google search. You may want to visit with your neighbors and consider using the same collection company to decrease the number of trash trucks driving on your streets and to minimize the days each week when trash is collected in your neighborhood.
