Universal Playground

In 2017, the City of Lakewood completed a renovation of the playground and opened the City’s first universal playground. It is an imaginative place that stimulates creative play and healthy physical activity, and includes features such as mounds, ramps and structures that children of all ages and abilities can play in.

Outdoor Fitness Zone at Carmody Park in partnership with Centura Health

The Fitness Zone is an area where patrons can come to get physical activity while enjoying the beautiful Carmody Park. It is strategically placed so that patrons will be able to supervise their children at the playground while simultaneously getting in a workout. The equipment was selected so that everyone, regardless of fitness level, will be able to get an effective workout, and also allows patrons to focus on cardiovascular fitness, resistance training, and core/ab work, all in one convenient area. Some of the equipment is also wheelchair accessible.

You can watch the video below by a certified fitness instructor who demonstrates beginner, intermediate and advanced workouts at the Fitness Zone. Use the icon in the top left corner of the video screen to select a different video in this 3-part series.

Members of the public can download the Carmody Park Master Plan PDF to learn more about the project.
