Ordinance O-69-15 established the Lakewood Planning Commission in 1969.

The Commission consists of seven members. Five members are appointed by ward (one from each ward) and two members are appointed at-large. Terms are four years in length and Commissioners may serve two terms. The Lakewood Planning Commission terms expire on March 31st. Planning Commission members are compensated $100 per month. Meetings may have controversial cases where there is neighborhood opposition and may be characterized as demanding and stressful.
