Lakewood Housing Authority

Lakewood Housing Authority

The Lakewood Housing Authority provides opportunities for affordable, decent, and safe living for those with low and moderate incomes. Utilizing a variety of federal programs, the Lakewood Housing Authority provides rental assistance subsidies to low-income households in privately owned units as well as in units owned and managed by the Authority itself. The Lakewood Housing Authority provides support services for subsidized residents, which enhances self-esteem, leads to economic independence and encourages participation in the community. It is responsible for providing the full range of property management functions on Authority-owned units, and advises the City Council on various housing issues.

Resolution 74-154 established the Lakewood Housing Authority in 1974. The Housing Authority follows the guidelines established by Colorado Revised Statutes 29-4-201.

The Authority consists of five members appointed at-large. One member must be a "resident" of the housing program. Terms are for five years in length and Authority members may serve two terms. The Lakewood Housing Authority terms expire on September 30th.
