The Board of Adjustment, a
quasi-judicial body, consists of seven members appointed by the Lakewood City Council to serve four-year terms. One member is appointed from each ward with two additional members appointed at-large.
The Board hears and makes decisions on requests by property owners for variances from development regulations. The most common requests for variances relate to setbacks, fences, and building heights.
The Board also hears and makes decisions on appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by any administrative official charged with enforcement of the zoning ordinance. All decisions are made by a majority vote of the members present at the meeting.
